Guangdong Federation of Industry & Commerce was founded in 1953, referred to as GFIC, also known as Guangdong Provincial Chamber of Commerce. As a local organization of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, GFIC is one of the constituent units of Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. GFIC has main job targets including private enterprises, limited liability companies and joint-stock companies controlled by non-public economic components, Hong Kong and Macao-invested enterprises, etc., the targets also include contributors to private enterprises, individual businessmen, and Hong Kong and Macao industrial and business people investing in the Mainland.

Those federations of industry and commerce are people's organizations and chambers of commerce under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), with non-publicly owned enterprises and non-publicly owned economists as their main bodies and with the organically united characteristics of united front, economy and civil society. As an important part of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), they are the bridges and links from the Party and the Government to people with non-publicly owned economy, the assistant of the Government in managing and serving the non-publicly owned economy. Main Functions

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the federations of industry and commerce hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, taking Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of the Three Represents, the Scientific Outlook on Development, and Xi Jinping Ideology of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era as their guide, firmly establish political awareness, overall situation awareness, core awareness and alignment awareness. Firmly upholding the authority and centralized leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the federations of industry and commerce not only adhere to the basic economic system by focusing on economic construction, but they also serve the overall situation of the CPC and the state by performing its duties with the theme of promoting the healthy development of non-publicly owned economy and the healthy growth of non-publicly owned economic personnel.The federations of industry and commerce play fully guiding role in the ideological and political work of non-publicly owned economic personnel, play fully important role in the participation of people with non-publicly owned economies in the political life and social affairs of the country, and play fully assistant role to the government in the management and service of the non-publicly owned economy. Furtherly, the federations of industry and commerce are promoter of the reform and development of trade associations and chambers of commerce, synergistic role in building harmonious labor relations and strengthening and innovating social governance, and also important role in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of non-publicly owned enterprises.

Main Functions and Tasks:

To strengthen and improve the ideological an d political work of people in the non-publicly owned economy;

To participate in political consultation to play the role of democratic supervision, actively participating in politics deliberation;

To assist the government in managing and serving the non-publicly owned economy;

To promote the reform and development of industry associations and chambers of commerce;

To participate in the coordination of labor relations and collaboration in social governance to promote social harmony and stability;

To guide non-publicly owned enterprises and people in the non-publicly owned economy to operate in good faith and in accordance with the law.

To understand and reflect the demands of non-publicly owned enterprises and people with non-publicly owned economies, help them safeguard their legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law.

To participate in the mediation and arbitration of economic disputes;

To strengthen the management, operation and protection of chamber assets in accordance with the law.

Organization Overview

By the end of 2021, there were 467,003 members of the Guangdong Federation of Industry& Commerce, 21 listed federations of industry and commerce at prefecture level, 144 county-level federations of industry and commerce, and 3,317 business associations at all levels.76 members of the executive committee of Guangdong Federation of Industry & Commerce.Over 200 members among the province's Federation of Industry and Commerce system serve as deputies to the National People's Congress and as members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference at all levels.
